We’re writing to give you information about voting in this year’s General Election on Thursday 12 December.
If you head to our elections web pages you’ll see a list of important dates and deadlines as well as a host of other advice and information.

Do I need to register to vote?
If you are already registered to vote you do not need to do so again – unless you have recently moved or changed your name.
If you have never been registered (or you need to change your details) the deadline is midnight on Tuesday 26 November.

How do I register?
The quickest way to register is online with your National Insurance number to hand.

Ways to vote

In person
Polling stations are open from 7am to 10pm on the day of the election. Your polling station will be printed on your poll card. You do not need to bring your poll card to vote.

Postal voting
If you haven’t already asked to vote by post but would like to, we must receive your application by 5pm on Tuesday 26 November.

By proxy
If you’re unable to vote you can ask someone to vote on your behalf. New applications (or changes) must be received by 5pm on Tuesday 26 November for postal proxy votes or 5pm on Wednesday 4 December for ‘in person’ proxy votes.
