Plymouth's Magical Advent Calendar
Plymouth’s magical advent calendar brings you daily treats and reasons to visit Plymouth city centre this Christmas.
You can now open a door every day to uncover a new festive present from Plymouth, including events, discounts and experiences.
Don’t try and open the doors too early though! Santa is watching and has cast his spell to make sure doors won’t open until the right date.

Plymouth Christmas Market is now open!
On until Thursday 19 December 2019

Head to the Piazza in the city centre and browse to your heart’s content! More than 50 traders from across the South West are now selling their wares in traditional wooden cabins, festooned with fairy lights.
Pick up unique gifts for friends and family, with everything from handmade jewellery and artwork to sweet treats and liqueurs to choose from. Warm up with a mulled wine from the Bavarian Bar, tuck into festive food from one of the many street food stands and snap a festive selfie in front of the giant illuminated bauble.
With entertainment including gospel choirs and vintage vocalists, your visit to the Christmas market will certainly put you in the festive spirit!

Penguins: A LEGO® brick trail
On until to Sunday 5 January 2020

Start your adventure, and seek out all 20 life size LEGO® brick penguins, with 19 Rockhoppers and one spectacular Emperor Penguin to find.
This festive fun family trail runs until 5 January 2020, giving five weeks to seek out all 20 penguin names.
Enter this fantastic competition to win some awesome prizes! These include, a weekend family trip to LEGOLAND® Windsor Resort, courtesy of Plymouth Citycoach or a Penguin Feeding Experience at Living Coasts for four people!
This LEGO brick trail is a great way to combine a bit of Christmas shopping, or enjoy some seasonal treats, whilst entertaining the children with a walk and festive fun activities.
Children will love the Creation Station, at the Christmas Market, in the Piazza, where FREE penguin making craft activities are being provided, every Sunday.
On Saturday 7 December enjoy a free story telling session with Santa at Plymouth Market (11am to 2pm), then on Saturday 14 and 21 and Sunday 22 December you can meet him in his grotto (11am to 4pm). Don’t forget to seek out the LEGO brick penguin and add their name to your trail card!

George, the Polar Bear cub wants you to follow the Polar Bear Explorer trail this winter.

Living Coasts
Experience the magic of Christmas at Living Coasts by sitting down to Breakfast with Santa!
For this magical event on selected weekend dates this December, children can meet Santa at breakfast time to receive a special present and enjoy decorating their own pancakes.
During this experience, children can also help make some enrichment gifts for our playful penguins to enjoy at their morning feed.
At just £15 per child, this event is the perfect opportunity to have a fun-filled, festive morning in the run up to the big day! Booking is essential and full details can be found on the Living Coasts website.

Mayflower 400 Programme Sets Sail
A year-long four nation commemoration programme, involving the UK, USA, Netherlands and Wampanoag nations, will commemorate and explore the 400 year anniversary of the journey and impact of one of history’s most famous ships, The Mayflower.
In the UK, Mayflower 400 will bring together destinations from across the UK where Mayflower history was written. Plymouth was the Mayflower’s final departure point in the UK and the city is the lead partner in the commemorations.

Tickets on sale for 'This Land' community production for Mayflower 400
Tuesday 16 to Saturday 20 June 2020

This Land, Theatre Royal Plymouth’s first ever trans-Atlantic community production, premieres on The Lyric stage from Tuesday 16 to Saturday 20 June 2020. Tickets are now on sale for this epic theatrical event, marking the 400 year anniversary of the Mayflower’s journey and its impact upon arrival in America.

Gearing up for a Christmas to remember with the National Marine Aquarium
The National Marine Aquarium is gearing up for a Christmas to remember with its exciting ‘Christmas Lights’ theme set to shine a spotlight on all things bioluminescent throughout the school holidays.
Starting on Saturday 21 December, the Aquarium will be twinkling with lights from the Ocean, with visitors given the chance to take part in a special trail and to discover what it really feels like to be thousands of metres below the surface by stepping inside its magical bioluminescence cave.
